Compliance Week Webinar: Managing Cookie Consent and Cookie Audits for GDPR and CCPA Compliance
October 1 @ 11am PT | 2pm ET | 6pm BST
Online Webinar

As consumers’ awareness of the use of cookies and similar tracking technologies has begun to soar, global lawmakers and regulators have taken a keen interest in how companies are using website and mobile tracking – particularly in the area of consent. This has evidenced itself through enforcement actions, new EU supervisory authorities’ guidance and stark warnings of changes to come.

Relatedly, new laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) will afford consumers the right to opt-out of the “sale” of their personal information to third parties, prompting updates to traditional consent practices in the US. With this new normal in mind, it’s important for organizations to understand where changes may be needed to their data governance, website and supply chain practices.

Join us on this webcast, where we’ll discuss:

  • An overview of the mechanics of online advertising, and the latest regulatory guidance in the cookie consent and digital ads spaces;
  • Website changes that can increase compliance with CCPA and other US state privacy laws;
  • Best practices for publishers and advertising ecosystem participants in transparency, documenting legal bases, treatment of special category data, “cookie” consent exceptions, and more; and
  • A real-world use case of sound website cookie consent practices.

TrustArc Senior Counsel Darren Abernethy will be the speaker for this webinar.

IAPP & TrustArc Webinar
How Privacy Tech Is Bought and Deployed
October 15 @ 7:30am PT | 10:30am ET | 3:30pm BST
Online Webinar

For the second year running, the IAPP, together with TrustArc, surveyed 345 privacy professionals around the globe to gain an understanding of how privacy technology products are purchased and deployed within an organization. Since 2017, the IAPP has mapped out the privacy tech marketplace through the IAPP Privacy Tech Vendor Report, which identifies 10 categories of products. Like the 2018 survey, results this year shine a light on which products are in use and under whose budget privacy tech purchases are made, as well as other budgetary and purchase-decision-making insights.

What you’ll learn:

  • What technology is truly in use versus what is still far from the mainstream.
  • Which tools are better suited to reside within the privacy office rather than being housed in IT or infosec.
  • How technologies with built-in security applications fare against newer privacy-office-specific solutions.
  • Which technologies are most likely to be found on major organizations’ purchase requests this year.

TrustArc is sponsoring this webinar. TrustArc SVP Privacy Intelligence and General Counsel will be speaking on this webinar.

Upcoming Webinar – Leveraging the Power of Automated Intelligence for Privacy Management

TrustArc is proud to present the next Privacy Insight Series webinar “Leveraging the Power of Automated Intelligence for Privacy Management” with CryptoNumerics VP of Sales Ravi Pather and TrustArc SVP Privacy Intelligence and General Counsel Hilary Wandall. This webinar will take place on Thursday, September 26th at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 4pm GMT. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about using automation to simplify privacy program management – register today!

With the increasing prevalence of privacy technology, how can the privacy industry leverage the benefits of artificial intelligence and machine learning to drive efficiencies in privacy program management? Many papers have been written on managing the potential privacy issues of automated decision-making, but far fewer on how the profession can utilize the benefits of technology to automate and simplify privacy program management.

Privacy tools are starting to leverage technology to incorporate powerful algorithms to automate repetitive, time-consuming tasks. Automation can generate significant cost and time savings, increase quality, and free up the privacy office’s limited resources to focus on more substantive and strategic work. This session will bring together expert panelists who can share examples of leveraging intelligence within a wide variety of privacy management functions.

Key takeaways from this webinar:

  • Understand the difference between artificial intelligence, machine learning, intelligent systems and algorithms
  • Hear examples of the benefits of using intelligence to manage privacy compliance
  • Understand how to incorporate intelligence into your internal program and/or client programs to improve efficiencies

Privacy Insight Series Webinar
The Path to U.S. – Japan Data Transfer Compliance
February 13 @ 9AM PT | 12PM ET | 5PM GMT
Online Webinar

Japan’s data protection law, the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) requires that companies have sufficient data protections for data transfers out of Japan. Since APPI went into effect in May 2017, companies, including subsidiaries of U.S.-headquartered companies in Japan, are liable for any violation and are subject to enforcement.

APPI recognizes that the APEC Cross Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) system is one mechanism to demonstrate that required data protections are in place. An APEC CBPR Certification can support companies’ compliance efforts with APPI and show their commitment to secure U.S . -Japan data transfer.

This webinar will cover the following:

  • International data transfer requirements under APPI and who they apply to along with how the APEC CBPR system fits in with these requirements
  • Introduction to APEC CBPR certification, including benefits in the context of APPI requirements
  • Real-world examples from industry experts on how APEC CBPR certification can fit in with your global compliance strategy

Whether you’re focused on GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA or Privacy Shield – one of the most important components of a privacy and security risk management program is to understand how your third party vendors are handling your data and whether they can maintain compliance. This webinar will outline:

  • Options to demonstrate compliance against multiple regulations or buyer requirements
  • Tools and methodology to support privacy and security third party assessments
  • Ways to develop an independent validation program and process for ongoing assurance of a risk-based level of supplier compliance
