Global Privacy Manager – Remote

Position Overview: 

The Global Privacy Manager (GPM) is a privacy subject matter expert and member of the TrustArc Global Privacy Solutions team. The GPM works directly with TrustArc clients on various aspects of their privacy program management, particularly with respect to TrustArc’s privacy-focused technology offerings and internationally-recognized certification standards. 

This role is responsible for navigating cutting-edge technology and privacy issues, managing client relationships and the privacy assessment process, facilitating compliance with U.S./global privacy frameworks and best practices through TrustArc’s privacy solutions, and drafting/revising tailored privacy notices that take into account the latest trends in the digital advertising ecosystem, cloud computing, cross-border data transfers, data security and client issues that arise on a day-to-day basis. 

In this role you will apply your subject matter expertise to clients across all industries, from Fortune 100 companies to scaling start-ups. You will play an active and engaged role in defining and refining assessment procedures for TrustArc’s core programs. As a GPM you will also collaborate with TrustArc’s engineering, sales, marketing, policy, and product teams to enhance existing services or to define new products as necessary. Most of all, this position requires the ability to rapidly self-educate and the willingness to take the initiative in driving valuable projects. 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrate and apply privacy subject matter expertise to cross-sector clients 
  • Project manage certifications and assessments for assigned customer base 
  • Build strong client relationships by maintaining knowledge of TrustArc solutions and going the extra mile to address each client’s privacy-related concerns 
  • Foster the growth of TrustArc clients from a revenue and account management perspective 
  • Maintain knowledge of current events in the legal and compliance spaces as they relate to privacy practices 
  • Meet defined monthly and quarterly assessment and performance goals 
  • Collaboration with internal TrustArc departments to resolve customer issues and improve solutions 
  • Active participation in privacy industry organizations, events and conferences 
  • Define and implement creative solutions that address client-specific business needs to help them meet TrustArc requirements and manage deadlines 

Education Requirements/Work Experience: 

  • BA/BS required 
  • CIPP certification strongly preferred 
  • J.D./Legal experience preferred 
  • Minimum 2 years in a privacy-focused role

Basic Requirement: 

  • Experience in B2B account management, enterprise client services or comparable role 
  • Attention to detail & ability to work through complex problems using creative solutions 
  • Project management skills 
  • Ability to distill complex issues into easy to understand recommendations that can be conveyed in written & verbal form 
  • Familiarity with and understanding of major international and domestic privacy laws and regulations. Must understand privacy concepts and terminology as applicable to the private sector. 

Technical Skills: 

  • Detailed understanding of complex emerging Internet technologies, online tracking and cloud/processor activities 
  • Familiarity with major CRM systems and experience with project management tools

Spring 2021 Privacy Legal Externship

Position Overview:

TrustArc is seeking highly motivated law students with a passion for data privacy to join its Global Privacy Solutions (GPS) team. We are seeking candidates with an “all hands on deck” mentality who can ramp-up substantively, work both individually and collaboratively, and do what it takes to #MakeItHappen for our company and its wide-ranging client base that comes to us for our privacy expertise and tailored technology solutions. Legal externs must be intellectually agile and able to self-educate on diverse areas ranging from GDPR/European Union data protection standards, to online behavioral advertising, to employee/HR data handling, to Asian data exports, to current FTC best practices for privacy programs, and beyond. Selected externs will use their analytical skills to support senior members of the GPS team, including by helping to advise clients on data privacy best practices, assisting in compliance with international data transfer frameworks, researching/presenting on evolving regulatory and industry standards, and drafting internal and client-facing documents. Comfortability with privacy-enhancing technologies is a must.

Externs will have the opportunity to work with subject matter experts at the forefront of data privacy. Externs will also have the opportunity to work with TrustArc privacy compliance technology solutions, attend regular team meetings, review data- and privacy-related contractual provisions, participate in company and team events, and help shape their growth as privacy professionals while contributing to TrustArc’s positive work culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain a firm grasp over TrustArc’s certification standards and international and domestic data privacy laws and regulations.
  • Communicate with clients’ legal, marketing, and engineering representatives in a professional and timely manner.
  • Verify the implementation of clients’ approved privacy statements, internal policies, and other TrustArc requirements on online digital properties.
  • Draft, parse and red-line clients’ privacy statements.
  • Conduct policy research and provide findings memos.
  • Collaborate with internal TrustArc departments to resolve customer issues and improve solutions.

Core Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled law student and earning course credit through an externship program.
  • Demonstrated interest in privacy law.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills–including for use in our “Privacy Moot Court” sessions.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Professional demeanor in communicating with clients

Good to Have:

  • Prior experience in data privacy or information security.
  • Knowledge of the digital advertising ecosystem, internet marketing strategies, and emerging markets.
  • Knowledge of internet tracking technologies such as cookies, SDKs, geolocation, etc.
  • Experience working with websites and web based technologies

Schedule:

Externs must be available to work remotely at an average of three days a week dependent on hour requirements below: For Spring – Externs must be available to work at least 16 hours per week.
